MADAM, After 12 years of shopping in Monmouth's Co-op, spending at least £100 every week which amounts to rather a lot over the years, on Saturday I parked in their car park as normal and did my shopping. I returned to find a £70 fine stuck to my car with the attendant taking pictures of it. I am really disappointed at this. I had no idea that the rules had changed and the signage does not make it clear from one's car that this is going to happen (and since it is new you don't get out of your car to walk up and read the sign). So I have paid some third-party company money that has zero benefit to the Monmouth community, and the Co-op will never again get my custom. I wonder how many other people are doing the same. It is a shame that the staff, who have known and greeted me over these years, do not appear to have the freedom to provide an explanatory initial warning, and will stand and watch as you park without letting you know, or that the company do not make it clear with appropriate signage. So fair warning here to all Co-op shoppers, do not expect your local shop to pull any punches - poor show and not in the interests of the local town or Co-op customers, of which I am now not one.
