A PUBLIC engagement event will be held by Monmouthshire County Council at Caerwent Village Hall presenting proposed plans for a solar farm in Crick.

The afternoon will take place on Friday 28th November between 1pm-8pm and will give local residents and businesses the opportunity to discuss the proposed application.

Council officers and consultants will be available with information on planning considerations and the design of the solar farm.

Currently, the proposed facility, scheduled for Oak Grove Farm, Crick, will cover a 25 acre site and is expected to produce around five megawatts of electricity a year.

This would be enough energy to power the equivalent of every household in Crick, Portskewett, Sudbrook and Caerwent.

Feedback is also being sought on the running of a community fund which is part of the planning application.

If successful, the council will contribute £1,000 for each megawatt produced, meaning that the county's communities could benefit from a sum of approximately £5,000 each year.

The council has stated that all profits generated from the scheme would be used to help support the delivery of frontline services across the authority.

Comments from the engagement event will be reviewed by the council before the submission of a planning application.
