MORE than £100,000 in compensation has been paid by Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) for failing to comply with the terms and conditions of an IT company.
Initially it was feared the council could pay up to £2.13 million to IT company Oracle after the breach but last week it was announced at its cabinet meeting that the figure had been negotiated down to £104,000.
Oracle commissioned an audit last July reviewing its license terms where it discovered that for four years MCC didn't comply with a specific requirement of its terms and conditions.
Kellie Beirne, chief officer for enterprise at MCC, (pictured) said: "We negotiated the figure down from £250,000. £104,000 was the final figure agreed upon and paid to Oracle as agreed."
After the audit, changes were made to the server and MCC are now in compliance with the terms and conditions.
