CHEPSTOW High Street will be closed to traffic on Saturday 28th March for the town's market.
The first of this year's street markets and events, organisers are hoping for a bumper day, with lots of new stalls, musical entertainment and story telling for the little ones. There will also be an Easter egg hunt running in local shops.
The carnival monarch for Chepstow Walking Carnival will also be crowned on the day.
All of those interested in being Carnival King or Queen should head to the War Memorial in Beaufort Square at 12pm, ready for judging to begin at 1pm.
In the event of bad weather, the judging will be held at the same time but in the town council's offices at the top of the High Street.
On Sunday 3rd May, the king or queen will be driven in a special carriage at the head of the walking carnival procession.
This will leave from Chepstow Rugby Club, wind its way around Thornwell and Bulwark, before finally arriving at Thornwell Football Club for a fun afternoon.
Details of this year's carriage are still a closely guarded secret. However, would-be monarchs can be aware that last year's carnival queen, 11 year old Caitlan Morgan, and her princess, 10 year old sister Abigail Morgan, were treated to a ride around Chepstow in a beautiful old 1922 Model T Ford, kindly provided by Bulwark businessman and car enthusiast Mr Critchley.
