COUNCILLORS will make up a shortfall in funding for the refurbishment of a visitor centre’s toilets beside a Norman castle
Monmouthshire Council estimated the refurb of its Dell car park Tourist Information Centre beside Chepstow Castle would cost £110,000.
Having only allocated £80,000 towards the project, run by its Mon Life service, it asked Chepstow Town Council to provide £30,000 towards it.
The town council has now approved the request, which will be met from its general reserve, in recognition of the centre’s importance to visitors and the town.
It has also requested a plaque, recognising its contribution, is placed on the building.
As well as offering advice on local attractions and accommodation from April to the end of October provides a same-day left luggage service.
