A SERIES of temporary traffic orders across Monmouthshire will bring road closures and parking suspensions over late August and early September.

The orders come as the county council facilitates essential works ranging from water‑supply upgrades to tree maintenance and resurfacing.

The first order affects R82 Gaerllwyd Farm to Gethley Road, Newchurch, where a 175‑metre stretch from its junction with Gethley Road will be closed from Wednesday, August 19.

The closure, required for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water to install a new connection, is expected to remain in place until Friday, August 21, with access for fronting properties maintained. A diversion has been signposted via Devauden Court, the B4293, Great House, Cobblers Plain, Nantgelli Farm, Llangwm, the B4235, The Duffryn and Uplands Road.

Further disruption will begin on Monday, August 24, when Bargain Wood Road, Cleddon will be closed between Ninewells Road and Trellech Cross for tree‑related safety works.

Operating daily between 9am and 5pm, the closure is scheduled to run until Friday, August 28, with traffic diverted through Llandogo Road, Ceciliford, Back Road, Catbrook Road and Ninewells Road.

Two additional orders will come into effect on Tuesday, September 1. In Beaufort Square, Chepstow, parking bays will be suspended for up to three days to allow Welsh Water to complete new connection works.

The affected area includes a 10‑metre Disabled Persons Parking Place outside Conrad House and a 10‑metre Loading Only bay adjacent to properties 3A, 3B and 4A.

On the same date, Penygarn Road, Penallt will close for Welsh Water works, with a 50‑metre section shut approximately 150 metres from Brook Road.

The closure is expected to last until Thursday, September 3, with a diversion via Brook Road, Glyn Road and Birches Road.

A longer‑term closure will also begin on Tuesday, September 1, affecting Link Road, Monmouth, where highway reconstruction and resurfacing will take place until Monday, September 28.

The road will be closed between Wonastow Road and B4293 Portal Road, with traffic redirected through Drybridge Street, St Thomas Square, Cinderhill Street and Portal Road.

The council has reminded motorists that breaching restrictions imposed under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 constitutes an offence.
