89 members of The Chepstow Singing Clubbers, led by conductor Karl Daymond performed for guests of the Lions Club.
The singing was vibrant and various, with chants from Native American tradition, to songs from South Africa. There were great renditions of old favourites and even an 18th century ballad with bells, to modern works from Tom Jones, Procol Harem and a few songs in Welsh to add to the international theme.
The Singing Clubbers are drawn from four local choirs Chepstow, Caldicot, Usk and the Forest of Dean. They sang for an audience of more than 130 people who at the end of the performance gave a standing ovation.
Lions President Nigel Gibby expressed the Lions Club gratitude to conductor Karl Daymond and the choir, and presented Karl with a certificate of appreciation, pictured.
The evening raised nearly £665 which will be used to fund various good causes in the district.
The Chepstow and Caldicot Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest humanitarian support organisation in the world. Its aim is to help both within the local community and with international Lions projects.
The Chepstow and Caldicot lions meet on the first Wednesday of each month at Dewstow Golf Club commencing at 8pm.
