A SCHEME to boost visits to Caldicot town centre was approved yesterday (5th May) by Monmouthshire County Council's (MCC) planning committee.

A linkage system between the supermarket and the town will be constructed to encourage footfall in Caldicot.

According to a report published by MCC, Asda shoppers will be more inclined to visit the town because of the new linkage scheme.

Funding for the linkage system is to be taken from Section 106 monies set aside from the Asda development.

The new scheme will allow for the parade of pedestrian links between Newport Road and the newly pedestrianised Woodstock Way.
