A RAGLAN family has been left desperately searching for their dogs after a burglary at their home yesterday (2nd May).

Janine and Dean Roderick took to Facebook last night to launch an appeal to find their four beloved pets, stolen from the family home in Clytha during the break-in.

The appeal went viral across south Wales and luckily two of the four pets have been found miles away in Pontypool, but two are still missing.

The family suspect that the thieves had watched as they left the rural property for work yesterday morning and left the dogs in an outdoor enclosure as always, striking shortly afterwards as the dogs’ feeds had not been eaten.

Later in the day, good news came in the form of the discovery of Gem, the black lurcher, wandering the streets of Sebastopol in Pontypool after escaping from a garden. Thanks to pictures circulating on social media, Gem was quickly reunited with her owners, and shortly afterwards, intelligence led the police to an address in the same area where they found Arthur the dachshund. A man and a woman have been arrested.

The search is still on for Meg and Jess the jackahauhas, as well as machinery stolen from the family’s garage.

Officers from Gwent Police have worked with the family since they discovered the dogs were missing at around 6pm last night. A spokesperson for the force said: “Two people, a woman aged 42 and a man aged 50, both from the Pontypool area have been arrested on suspicion of burglary. They are currently in police custody.

“Anyone with information relating to this incident that could assist enquiries is asked to call 101 quoting log 409 02/05/18.”
