A CARER from Chepstow has been jailed for five and a half months after apparently stealing from an elderly patient.

Nicola Duggan of Marten Road, Bulwark, was charged with fraud by abuse of position after appearing in Newport Magistrates Court on 21st May.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to 22 weeks in prison.

Duggan appeared in headlines in March 2010 after blowing the whistle on a former colleague at a different nursing home for abusing a resident.
