From February 29, overnight restrictions on the A40 will see vehicles and cyclists prohibited from using the carriageway from Dixton roundabout to Raglan interchange to allow for resurfacing works.

The carriageway resurfacing will take place between February 29 and April 8, 2024 and repair work will also start on the Wye Bridge between mid-March and 24 May 2024 or until the work is completed.

The works will affect the A40 sliproad eastbound (Ross direction) which will be closed when lane closures are in place on the A40 north of the Gibraltar Tunnels.A 40 mph speed limit is expected to apply at all times for the duration of the works.

The no right turn from the eastbound A40 over the Wye Bridge to the A466 will be suspended, if necessary, during the works at Wye Bridge.

Traffic will be diverted from Raglan Interchange to the M4 Junction 24 (Coldra), eastbound M4 to Junction 23 (Rogiet), eastbound M48 to Junction 2 (Newhouse), northbound A466 to Highbeech Roundabout, Chepstow, north-eastbound A48 to Highnam and westbound A40 to Ross-on-Wye to join the south-westbound A40 to Monmouth: vice versa for westbound traffic. Traffic wishing to join the A40 from Cinderhill Street should travel south along the B4293 to join the south-westbound A40 at Mitchel Troy, exit at Raglan Interchange.
