THE Whitebrook Wind-up 10k and Half Marathon is celebrating its fifth year in 2015 and will be run on 7th June 2015 at 10am.

This year it will be hosted in association with the Monross Trailblazers running club, a relatively new running club in the area which has already made its mark with a string of successes in local leagues and events.

The Wind-up has earned a reputation for being one of the toughest but also most scenic races in South Wales and the borders.

From the start at Whitebrook Village Hall, runners make their way down to the banks of the Wye and run two miles through riverside meadows.

They then turn onto the disused railway track for another level mile before embarking on the winding two mile climb through the woods which gives the race its name.

Having reached 600ft, it's a swift mile back through twisting forest tracks to the village hall where the 10k race ends and the half marathon reaches its half way point.

The race is run in aid of Whitebrook Village Hall, a registered charity. This year Mandarin Stone is sponsoring a T-shirt for each of the proud finishers.

If you would like to sponsor the race as a business, email [email protected]">[email protected].

If you are thinking of running a trail race for the first time, it is a great race to start with. It's clearly signed and well marshalled and has hosted runners aged 17 to 77.
