SUDBROOK opening pair Ross Lewis and Mickey Martin both struck centuries to help the club's first team to a commanding total against Radyr Cricket Club at Mill Lane on Saturday.

Lewis was the first to three figures following a fine innings that saw him strike 17 boundaries and four maximums in his total of 139 before leaving centre stage to his partner.

Martin continued to punish Radyr's bowlers, making 102 with 11 fours and one maximum before he departed.

Joe Voke (10) appe-ared to drag on a short delivery after starting with a couple of boundaries but vice-captain Lewis Morgan (30 not out), saw the total to 303 and throw down the gauntlet to the visitors.

In reply, Radyr slumped to 190 all out in the 39th over thanks to superb bowling by Rhys Pescod who ended with a career-best 6-58.

Sudbrook skipper Lewis described the young bowler's performance as "outstanding" and said he was pleased with the way his batsmen had performed.

"It was nice to score in excess of 300.

"One of the things we've spoken about as batsmen is to try to make bigger contributions with the bat as too many of our batters have got to 20 or 30 and then given their wickets away without getting scores that take the game away from sides," he said

"The fielding was better than of late which is a good sign.

"All the bowlers bowled with discipline but in fairness it was a good pitch and anything off-line was usually punished.

"It was nice to see a return to form for Mark O'Leary taking 2-38 and bowled well in tandem with Rhys' outstanding effort on that wicket.

"The only negative was Lewis Morgan pulling a muscle in his side after bowling and it's doubtful he will be fit for Saturday's match against Malpas, although

we should have Matthew Kinchin back which will add more strength to our batting."

Sudbrook are due to play their Macey Cup semi final tomorrow (Thursday 16th July) at Pontymister.

In the second XI's match, Radyr were restricted to 200-8 from their 45 overs and in reply, Bradley Bates (66) and Matthew Spencer (36) gave Sudbrook a good start.

Seconds' skipper Jamie Watkins, who had earlier taken 2-19 in three overs, contributed an unbeaten 38 runs which saw them through to 203-6 with two overs to spare
