SUDBROOK'S run of success stuttered on Saturday as they were beaten by the weather, but spirits could not be dampened after two important wins.
First they travelled to Newport in the Welsh Cup and restricted the home side to 151 all out before Ross Lewis (85) and Micky Martin (54) chased the target without losing a wicket.
"We were excellent in the field and with ball, especially Ian Simmonds who stepped up from the 2nd XI and bowled exceptionally well," said skipper Lewis.
"The bowlers did a superb job in restricting Newport to 151 from their 40 overs."
The club kept the momentum going with another convincing Macey Cup win at Usk on Thursday.
After winning the toss, skipper Ross Lewis put the home side in to bat and Mark O'Leary (2-23) quickly removed the openers for just 14 runs.
Henry Lewis and George Lewis chipped in with 15 and 19 respectively before falling victim to the bowling of Lewis Morgan (2-25).
Although Neil Perrett (24 not out) offered resistance, Rhys Pescod (2-18) and Jonathan Lewis (1-27) struck as Usk's innings reached 119-7 from the 20 overs.
In reply, Ross Lewis made 54 and James Hussey 35 as Sudbrook passed the total with seven deliveries to spare and with the loss of five wickets.
There was no chance to continue the momentum on Saturday though as constant drizzle forced the umpires to cancel the home match against Blackwood Town CC without a ball bowled.
