SUDBROOK Cricket Club's second XI beat Chepstow seconds at Mill Lane on Saturday (27th June).

Sudbrook won the toss and asked Chepstow to bat, choosing to chase whatever total the visitors could rack up.

Openers Scott Bailey and John Griffith gave them a shaky start, Griffith being caught by Gary Morgan off Ian Simmonds' bowling, and then partner Scott Bailey fell to a James Kinchin catch off Ben Supple's bowling.

That brought Jamie Rayner to the crease and he and James Bostock rallied well, Rayner making 72 with Bostock adding 36.

Josh Tregaskes and Jonathan Huws also departed, having made 10 and 6 respectively before young bowler Lewys Jones added 20 not out to help post 193-6 from their allotted 45 overs.

Sudbrook skipper Jamie Watkins was the pick of Sudbrook's bowling taking 2-18 with one maiden in his eight overs.

In reply, Sudbrook opener Bradley Bates top-scored with 72 before being bowled by Jonathan Huws.

This was after his partner Greg Shaw was out for two runs, bowled by Robert Jones who ended with 3-34 off eight overs, while his son Lewis took 3-50 as Sudbrook made 295-8.
