Monmouth RFC Druids 25 Caldicot RFC Seconds 5

MONMOUTH RFC Druids entertained Caldicot seconds in their last game of the season at the weekend.

A strong Druids team started well and soon found themselves 3-0 up via the boot of Kris Gordon.

Monmouth continued to play open running rugby, but unfortunately could not breach the Caldicot line and the first half finished with no further points being scored.

The second half started with a bang, as some excellent interplay between backs and forwards saw Elliot Spears score the first try of the game which Kris Gordon converted to increase the lead to 10-0.

The great start didn’t last long though, and within minutes of scoring Monmouth found themselves reduced to 13 men. This did not deter the home side and although reduced in numbers and conceding a try, the home players fought on. They increased their lead through another Kris Gordon penalty and a fine try by Shaun Brosnan, quickly followed by a second try for Elliot Spear to give the Druids a 25-5 win at the final whistle.
