Dragons Youth League - Chepstow Youth RFC 45 Pontypool Utd Youth RFC 10

CHEPSTOW entertained Pontypool Utd needing to win in order to finish in the top four in Dragons Youth League.

Both sides ran the ball at every opportunity, but it was Chepstow who took control, scoring three tries in the first 20 minutes, through Will Davies-King, Josh Adams and Sam Thomas, all converted by Callum Butcher. Pontypool rallied and scored a try of their own, which they failed to convert but Chepstow’s expansive approach again paid dividends with Callum Adie scoring their fourth try in the corner.

Early in the second half, Davies-King scored his second try, Butcher adding the conversion.

Chepstow continued to dominate proceedings and Luke Dhenin was next on the scoresheet, after an outrageous dummy allowed him to cross the whitewash to make the score 38-5.

Many teams would have laid down after going behind in this fashion, but Pooler kept going and scored an excellent try which went unconverted. Chepstow completed the scoring with a fantastic solo try by Chris Johnsey, which Butcher converted.

Chepstow coach, Dean Thomas said: “It was a great performance from an ever-improving team and to finish fourth in this league is a credit to the effort and commitment the boys have put in, all season.”
