South East Wales Cricket League Division One - Chepstow (173 all out) lost to Usk (136-3) by seven wickets (DLS)

CHEPSTOW First XI were made to pay a high price for batting failings after a rain-affected match against Usk First XI.

Only three of the home side’s batsmen posted a double-figure score and following heavy rain showers, their modest total of 173 all out meant the visitors were set a target of 136 from 32 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern system.

Opener Gareth Ansell (76), Dave Bennett (28) and skipper Jason Dobbie (35) had tried their best but eight single-figure scores yielding just 13 runs, told its own story.

In their reply, Usk lost an opener early on, bowled by Dobbie but George Lewis (32), Hywel Rose (32) and Iain Clayton (38) saw Usk home in the 28th over.
