ENTRIES have opened for the Severn Bridge Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday 30th August.
More than 300 entries have been received in less than a week, and the organisers anticipate that the event will sell out as it did last year.
Many runners have been eagerly anticipating the race, which was held for the first time in 2014 with 2,500 entrants.
The route will remain the same as last year, starting on the closed carriageway of the Severn Bridge. Runners will race across the bridge into England, with a loop along scenic country lanes near Thornbury, before returning on the bridge back to the event centre.
Race director Paul Dodd said: "We were overwhelmed by the support the inaugural Severn Bridge Half Marathon received last year.
"To have 2,500 entrants in the first year of running this event was phenomenal. I think the idea of racing from one country to another between sea and sky, across the iconic Severn Bridge, really captured people's imagination.
"We had a huge amount of positive feedback from the event, with a real buzz on our Facebook page. We aim to make the race in 2015 even better."
The race costs £27 for runners who are affiliated to a running club, and £29 for unaffiliated runners. On finishing, all runners will receive a medal, a memento technical t-shirt, and a goody bag.
The route will be fully marked and marshalled with three drinks' stations en route and water at the
finish.
The official charities of the Severn Bridge Half Marathon are St. David's Foundation and the Great Western Air Ambulance. When entering online, runners have the option of donating £1 to the event's chosen charities, and can also choose to raise more money for these, or their own chosen charity.
The event will be chip timed with a full results' service provided and there will be cash prizes for the first five runners.
Sponsor Up and Running, which sells running equipment, will
provide vouchers for the age
category winners.
