Monmouthshire's primary schools will get their own taste of the World Cup just days before the real World Cup final takes place in Brazil. Caldicot duo Nathan Thomas and Ryan Morley are hoping to inspire young people to get active and play football. Nathan and Ryan, both 18, who already coach a thriving Under 6s football team at Caerwent Football Club, are set to stage a World Cup-themed football festival for primary schools on Thursday 10th July at Caldicot Leisure Centre. Upon registering their team, primary schools will be allocated a country to represent. Pupils are encouraged to research the country that they are representing in the weeks leading up to the festival. Ryan and Nathan, who are working with Monmouthshire County Council to organise the event, said: "Being healthy and active is important to us and we want to encourage other children to be the same. "Sport, especially football, has been a big part of our childhood and the upcoming World Cup seems too much of an opportunity to get other young people to catch the active bug." Sarah McGuinness, the council's chief officer for children and young people, said: "I can't wait to be cheering the teams on at our very own Monmouthshire World Cup and I applaud Nathan and Ryan for their active and energetic work with our children and young people."
