Below is my vehicular/pedestrian/cyclist wish list for the Monmouth area. No doubt readers in other parts of the town and area could add theirs to this ‘skeleton’.
1. Connect Beech Road underpass to a reinstated Troy Station site plus Ross Line Bridge to link Overmonnow to May Hill - with another link at the bridge to Redbrook Road and Wyesham as a cycle track/footpath.
2. All goods vehicles to and from Wonastow Industrial Estate to be forced (by cameras, signage etc) to use Link Road and Portal Road, and not Cinderhill, Drybridge and Wonastow, unless they also have business calls on those roads.
3. Southbound third lane on A40 from Dixton roundabout to Wye Bridge, with ‘left turn only’ at peak times (with appropriate overhead or roadside ‘live’ signage).
4. Reinstate Wyebridge Street as two way with traffic lights. It can be done!
5. Reinstate A40 southbound to Wyebridge Street, and A40 northbound to Wye Bridge, with green filter traffic lights.
6. Wye Bridge to be either vehicles only, with pedestrians and cyclists on their own adjacent bridge, or vice versa.
7. ‘Robin Hood corner’ needs more, and better, ‘no entry’, ‘left turn’ and ‘right turn’ signage as appropriate.
Agincourt Square prettied-up for tourists?
I hope they come to realise and appreciate what we locals are due to endure on their behalf: inconvenience and confusion!
