Do you watch in admiration as your dining companions discuss the merits of different wines? Or are you already an expert and would like to explore the world of fine wines further?

Then a tutored wine tasting is for you!

Thursday 13th February at 7.30pm at Bridges Centre will bring together everyone from those with little wine knowledge to genuine wine buffs to experience a range of French wines.

For only £12 you will be taken on a tasting journey of French vineyards. All money raised will support Monmouth/Carbonne Twinning Association - the local organisation that enables Monmouth residents to visit France and experience French life in ways that normal tourism just doesn’t allow.

Tom Innes, tutor for the evening, is a previous winner of the Decanter International Wine Challenge award and Wine Merchant of the Year for Wales. Tom will introduce everyone to a selection of handmade wines from small family vineyards from around France to delight and amaze, and help identify pinot noirs to sauvignon blancs, and Burgundies from Bordeaux.

There should be something for everyone, with reds, whites, and very possibly a dessert wine - all sourced from family vineyards that have grown the grapes on their own land. Tom will bring the wines alive with anecdotes about the growers with whom he deals direct and knows personally.

You will also have the chance to find out more about the opportunities that becoming a member of Town Twinning can offer, ranging from social events around Monmouth to guided visits to French twin town, Carbonne near Toulouse.

Tickets are available from Bridges Centre or from Jane Harvey (treasurer, Monmouth/Carbonne Twinning Association) either on 01600 712031 or [email protected]
