MADAM,
May I say how delighted I was to see that the editorial decision has been taken to increase the space given in recent editions to Letters to the Editor. I fear any reduction in the future would run the risk of leaving no room for the wonderfully regular, if somewhat disjointed, missives of Mr Gary Witcombe.
Now I, like many others, enjoy the privilege of living in Monmouth, and I have done so with my family for many years now, however, should the urge come upon me to call Mr Witcombe, after 6pm of course, to enquire of the vacancies for both town and county councillors on behalf of the, how shall we say, ‘niche’ British Empire Party, I would be dismayed if I did not qualify for the proud boast of Monmothian.
Therefore, I wonder if in a future letter, Mr Witcombe could outline whether or not a period of quarantine is required to obtain this prestigious title, and if so what term one must serve; or if full ancestral lineage needs to be evidenced, with accompanying bloodline confirmation?
I wait in great anticipation.
