A GROUP of vintage enthusiasts have raised over £5000 in a 340 mile road run from the south to the north of Wales.
Leaving Cardiff on the 7th August, nine tractor drivers from East Wales and Borders Vintage Enthusiasts and surrounding vintage clubs left on a five day journey, making their way to Anglesey.
Each tractor had it’s own support crew to share driving, and a couple of vehicles were on standby to provide general support, carry spares and fuel and assist with directions if necessary!
The road run enjoyed generally good weather, apart from a day of rain while travelling through Snowdonia, and the group made it the entire journey without a single breakdown.
The south to north challenge was in support of Velindre cancer centre Cardiff, who are in the process of publishing a book with the aim of making the subject of cancer more accessible for children. Written with input from ex-cancer patients, the book is illustrated for younger children to understand and to give them answers to any questions they may have.
Donations for the event are still pouring in, and the club are hoping to reach their target of £6000 soon.
East Wales and Borders host a number of road runs and events throughout the year, and all proceeds are donated to charity.
