FOOTBALLERS of all ages have paid tribute to a local footballer who died tragically last week.

Harrison Prettyjohns played for Chepstow Town under 18s, Tintern Abbey, Thornwell Red & White and Mathern and all clubs held a minute’s silence before their matches at the weekend.

A popular figure, Harrison was a young father-to-be and tributes flooded in after the news.

At Thornwell where the A team were taking on their own B team in an East Gwent League match, players lined up to mark out a huge letter H as that was Harrison’s nickname.

Meanwhile, at Tintern, a match between all the club’s players was hastily arranged with a minute’s silence held before kick-off and at Mathern where the players wore black armbands, a silence was observed before the A team’s Benevolent Cup match against Undy Athletic.

Harrison’s brother Rory plays for Chepstow Town’s Welsh League team and both they and the Welsh League Reserves team held similar tributes.

The club also announced they had officially retired the No10 shirt worn by Rory until he feels ready to resume playing.

Chepstow Town’s all-conquering under 18s also observed a minute’s silence before their match at Albion on Sunday.
