SIR, Monmouth is a lovely town. However, it is spoilt by litter. There are 'grot spots' within the town where litter has been allowed to accumulate,  St James Square being an example. As for the main arterial route, the A449 past Monmouth, the amount of rubbish and litter on the verges of this road are disgusting.  Mile after mile of rubbish and litter all the way up from Newport. The main political parties appear to be completely oblivious to the worsening state of our roads and streets.  It's even worse in the borough where I live. It is not entirely surprising that more and more people are turning to political parties such as the UKIP.  There is a complete failure from Labour and the Conservatives to get even basic services fit for purpose.
