SIR, A concert in Caldicot Castle on Friday 7th November was delightful, spoilt only by the fact that the four-year-olds were made to wait until the very end to perform. These children had a full school day, rushed tea, and were back to the castle for 6pm and didn't get on stage until after 8.30pm. I heard two parents saying they had taken their children home before their performance because they were asleep. There was more than enough content for two concerts, which would then have gained two sets of entry fees. Great attempt, but perhaps next time put young children in an afternoon concert, have a tea-time break with food on sale – soup or hot dogs would have been welcome – then have an evening concert for older children and adults. I believe most would attend both concerts, thus paying twice. The younger children would enjoy their performance and parents and teachers would be less stressed. The concert was excellent and, despite of bad weather, was well attended. Please repeat but with more planning and talk to teachers and parents. M Holt (Caldicot)
