JUST shy of 20,000 visitors flocked to Monmouthshire Show last Thursday (28th August) to bask in the surprise good weather. Competitors travelled from far and wide to show their prize animals, produce and vehicles off to the Monmouthshire crowds, with busy lineups in all the categories. The horse section accepted online entries for the first time this year, getting through around 800 entries on the day for a variety of classes, including Horse of the Year Show qualifiers. Fine Monmouthshire businesses also stood proud at the showground, with companies exhibiting from across the county. Varied tradestands displayed country skills, town shops, military recruitment opportunities, and even the local newspaper. Amongst the crowds was Secretary of State for Wales, The Rt Hon Stephen Crabb MP. Those present at the show enjoyed reduced queuing to enter and park, after changes to the gate systems this year.
