ROGUERUNS announce they now have over 1600 entries for the inaugural Severn Bridge Half Marathon. The event, which is taking place on Sunday 24th August, has attracted a great amount of interest from the local running community, which is reflected in the high number of entries. There are still places left, although runners will need to enter soon as the number of competitors will be restricted to 2000. The winning man and woman will win a bespoke Severn Bridge trophy and a cash prize of £150. Second, third, fourth and fifth placed male and female will be awarded £100, £75, £50 and £25 each respectively. Age category winners will be presented a glass trophy and vouchers from Up and Running, who are the Severn Bridge Half Marathon's official retail partner. Up and Running will also have a stand selling their running kit in the event village at the finish line. On Sunday 1st June, the 13.1 mile course was officially measured, so all competitors can be assured it will be exactly the correct distance for a half marathon. This is of vital importance to competitors who will want to compare their performance with previous half marathons. Many will be hoping for personal best times on the course. Every single competitor finishing the event will receive a commemorative medal, a specially designed technical t-shirt, snacks and a sports drink. The Severn Bridge Half Marathon is sponsored by Basepoint, situated in Chepstow, next to the old Severn Bridge.
