MADAM,
I read with interest the views of our local MP Mr David Davies, whose views are well publicised about his stance on ‘Brexit’.
He is perfectly entitled to his views on this issue but I hope that he accepts the consequences of both his actions and words should the British public vote to stay in.
I am sure the irony of his words in the Beacon article ‘Monmouth MP to vote for British exit from EU,’ 24th February, where he states: “It is time to put power over policies back in the hands of the British public,” will not go over his head if the UK votes to stay in the UK.
The British public will have spoken.
Should that be the case, with regards to this crucial issue, if he has any integrity after 23rd June, at best he should consider his position as an MP and at least, not stand for re-election at the next general election.
I am always pleased to see the unexpected but I will not be holding my breath.
To quote John Donne 1571-1631, “No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, as a part of the main, if a clod is washed away by the sea, Europe, is the less - etc”
