MADAM,

Now that European countries are squabbling over the number of migrants to accept, those seeking to deliberately destroy our economy and way of life must be smiling.

By continuing acts of terrorism and tribal wars, extremist groups are fuelling mass migration of displaced people entering Europe without means of identification. Causing us to become emotionally involved, sadly where women and children are concerned, equates to psychological warfare and is blinding us to our future safety and that of genuine refugees.

We may criticise our politicians but we must be thankful that Britain did not sign up to the Schengen agreement and therefore has retained more rights than others to control its own borders. Once borders were open across Europe the green light shone brightly and migration from non-European countries greatly increased.

It is imperative that rigorous security checks are done but they take time and are they possible? We should therefore spare some thought for our greatly reduced police force and the heavy burden of responsibility placed on our immigration officials.

In addition we must remind ourselves of the many Native Americans who died when first introduced to European viruses. With mass migration we are going to be introduced to viruses and bacteria that we are not immune to (and vice versa for the migrants). This could create a serious health crisis at a time when our NHS is already overburdened by volume of patients.

So when our politicians take a firm stand we should be supporting them, not accusing them of scaremongering. They have access to confidential information, have difficult decisions to make and are collectively responsible for the security of our nation.
