Staff at Tesco in Chepstow have been shortlisted for a 'Fundraising Team of the Year Award' because of the events they have put on to support Diabetes UK. Tesco colleagues have shaved their heads, had 'Where's Wally?' hunts around store, a sparkling Christmas market and more, all organised by the store's staff. The Chepstow team have been shortlisted along with three other Tesco teams for the award. Paul Amadi, director of fundraising for Diabetes UK, said: "I have been consistently amazed and humbled by Tesco colleagues' enthusiasm and dedication towards our cause, through our National Charity Partnership. "Their outstanding support has already helped to raise an incredible £11 million for Diabetes UK, this money has and will continue to go towards supporting the millions of people with diabetes. "I am delighted that we can recognise some of the people who have gone the extra mile at our Fundraising Awards Ceremony. "We look forward to celebrating their achievements and hope that their efforts will inspire Tesco colleagues to keep up the momentum as the partnership continues." There are 3.2 million people living with diabetes in the UK and a further 630,000 more who remain undiagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. The partnership aims to support the millions of people who have to live with diabetes every day; help hundreds of thousands of people take action to reduce their risk of Type 2 diabetes; and fund investment into ground-breaking research for a Type 1 vaccine.
