MADAM,
One sees a person’s eye glaze over upon mentioning a talk on ’The Art of Composting’. Knowing almost zero about the subject, but feeling ’it is the right thing to do,’ I thought nothing lost from joining fellow or established composters, at the Nelson Gardens last Friday.
One wonders just for fun, if there is a name for composters say, a crowd/glut/pride/group etc etc, however I digress.
The invite from the irrepressible Susan Amos and the introduction from Helen Gerrish was to hear all about it, from the guru Helen Bosanquet. What an absolutely delightful and fun lady Helen is, she invited questions throughout, so no waiting until the end, when one may have forgotten what one wanted to ask, no question was too tricky for her to answer for a novice such as myself.
Approximately 14 enthusiasts were at the garden, most of whom had various tips of their own to impart. We saw the good work the volunteers do regarding composting at the gardens, and it was interesting to see how it actually works.
Many thanks to all and especially Helen Bosanquet for a highly enlightening talk.
