Last year the Beacon kindly put its weight behind the successful rescue of the Chepstow to Monmouth via Devauden bus route, to the benefit of many members of the public.

May I ask the Beacon to consider support for our local railway station, the Severn Tunnel Junction Station.

On Monday I was informed that for a trial period, this station is now open Monday to Friday, from 6.30am to 2.20pm.

This should greatly benefit many people, such as day trippers and in the run up to Christmas, shoppers!

I have found the staff most helpful, being a wealth of information, pointing out cost savings on various tickets and alternative choices of trains to a number of destinations.

I think this enterprising effort should be well publicised to obtain maximum support, after all, everyone who pays tax has a stake in this venture, me included!

I have no connection with the staff, or the various stations, trains or track companies, simply preferring train travel or as the old saying goes, “let the train take the strain”.

Hopefully, you can step in the breach and save another valued public service, or are we all doomed to AI buttons and fuzzy screens.
