THE annual Border Counties Steam and Country Show on Vauxhall fields, Monmouth was bathed in glorious sunshine for a change this year.

Organisers were lucky with the weather, as the two day show helps to raise funds to keep the Border Counties Vintage Club, which organises the show, going.

There was a larger entry of classic cars, supported by vintage tractors and vehicles from all trades with motorcycles and three-wheeled vintage machines also turning out for the crowds.

The novelty dog show held on the Sunday saw classes from dog with the most appealing eyes to the dog the judges would like to take home.

Andrea Price and her son Rory took many of the rosettes with their Cocker Spaniel Izzy and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Zac. Matthew Wells from Cross Ash and his ‘staffie’ crossed with a Cairn Terrier won the long-coat category and the ‘dog the judges would like to take home’ rosette.

Best in show went to Lula, a Japanese Spitz dog.

Ian Harper, show chairman said that the organisers were pleased with the good turnout. “I would like to thank all the sponsors who made all this possible, and we are grateful to all the exhibitors for making this a bigger show for the public,” he said.
