HUNDREDS of showgoers descended on Chepstow Racecourse over the weekend for the 175th Chepstow Show.

This year marked 175 years since the Chepstow Farmers Club held its first ploughing match at Hayes Gate, and to mark the occasion an exhibition was arranged with the help of Chepstow Museum to highlight the history of the show and Chepstow Agricultural Society.

In addition to the exhibition, there was also a full programme of events, displays and attractions in the main ring, the bustling homecraft and horticulture tents, horse sections together with a wide range of trade stands.

In the main ring, mother-and-son stunt duo Stunt Mania entertained the crowds with flaming stunts and jumps, there was hard-fought competition in the Pony Club Mounted Games, while there were also appearances for the Woolaston Bassets and the Curre and Llangibby Hunt.
