THE sound of ‘Rhapsody’ heralded the arrival of the annual steam and vintage show on Vauxhall fields last weekend.
The return of the mighty Belgian organ, along with it’s sister Victory, created the sound unique to the Border Counties Vintage Club’s annual gathering of vehicles from yesteryear.
From cars you remember from your youth to machines only grandad would remember from his, there was something for everyone, with a dog show, an auction, car boots and children’s entertainment completing the fun on offer.
Organisers were lucky with the weather, which only started to deteriorate when it was time to fill the boilers with coal and pack up the machines that have lovingly been restored.
The two day show helps to raise funds to keep the club going and showcases those restorers that keep the memories alive, organisers were grateful to all those that helped with the event.
Ian Harper, show chairman said that the organisers were pleased with the good turnout. “I would like to thank all the sponsors who made all this possible, and we are grateful to all the exhibitors for making this a bigger show for the public,” he said.
