The recent concert at Mitchel Troy Village Hall with Bridget Famhy singing "Songs from the Shows" was a huge success.

The variety of songs from Les Miserables, all the way back to the 1950s with 'South Pacific' and 'Oklahoma' provided something for everyone. The audience joined in too, singing with particular gusto on 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'.

Table decorations – pots of tete-a-tete daffodils, came from Millbrook Nursery and were sold at the end to add to the overall profits.

The audience gave generously towards the raffle. The top prize was a quilt 'Misty Mountains' made in the hall and donated by Wye Knot Quilters. The quilters meet in Mitchel Troy Village Hall on the second Saturday of each month.

The evening raised £495 towards village hall funds.

"We are thrilled by the success of the evening and thank everyone who took part," said Elaine Savage, chair of Mitchel Troy Village Hall Committee.

"The generous amount raised brings us close to our target for funds towards the much awaited new kitchen. We hope the refurbishment will take place during the coming school summer holidays."
