CROSS Ash pupils put on a musical extravaganza for parents and friends last Wednesday (23rd March) and the headteacher was able to reveal that two of the pupils were heading for stardom.

Fred Miln, eight, was among a thousand children from all over Europe who played at the British Suzuki Gala Concert at the Royal Albert Hall last Saturday evening (26th March).

Zosia Dzimitrowicz, 10, who wowed parents and teachers alike with her virtuoso performances on the piano has been awarded a place at Chetham’s School of Music from September 2016.

Chetham’s School of Music familiarly known as Chets, is a specialist independent co-educational music school in Manchester city centre in north west England.

With 290 or so students, aged eight to 18, Chetham’s has an excellent track record in the biennial BBC Young Musician Competition.

Over the last 10 years, students have consistently taken two out of the five category winners spots.

Laura Perrett, headteacher at Cross Ash Primary School, said that the Musical Extravaganza was aimed at providing the pupils with the opportunity to perform, showcase their talents and a way of raising money to continue to improve music provision. The school is currently looking to raise £500 for samba drums. Mrs Perrett said: “I was amazed at the talent showcased in the event, pupils of all ages showed a great range of abilities on many instruments.

“We wish Zosia the very best with her new direction in life and the school will miss her tremendously.”
