THE 10th annual Scarecrow Trail around Tutshill village started on Saturday 24th March and ends on Friday 13th April.

This year’s theme is Heroes and Villains and there are 33 scarecrows signed up to find and guess the name of their character. Each year more and more people take part in this fun community event whether making a scarecrow, hosting someone else’s creation or taking part in the competition.

By popular request, the annual scarecrow trail has now become an established Tutshill tradition for everyone of all ages to enjoy. People from all over Britain, including Cornwall, Devon and Scotland come regularly to spot and admire the characters, fill in the quiz sheet and stand a chance of winning a prize. Last year saw visitors from New Zealand and Australia also taking part.

The bright new trail quiz sheets and a map of the route will be available from the Lifestyle Express shop on Beachley Road (NP16 7YB) who have kindly sponsored the event. The route then winds its way round the village, with a refreshment stop for Hero Spotters at Toast. It ends up at St Luke’s Church, the organisers of the trail, situated on the Coleford Road in Tutshill, and where completed forms should be left. Closing date for the last entries is Friday 13th April.

Everyone gets a chance to choose their favourite scarecrow in "The People’s Vote" even if they cannot guess all of the answers and there will be a special prize awarded for the winning scarecrow in that category.

To round off the excitement of the search there will be a free fun "Results Show Live" event at Tutshill Primary school on Saturday 14th April from 2.30pm to 4pm with delicious refreshments, scarecrow- related crafts and fun activities. The answers to the quiz, and the prize winners will also be announced.
