In his time as Round Table Chairman (2017/18) Kevin had the pleasure of working with the Bridges Centre in Monmouth on a couple of occasions and was completely inspired by their work for the elderly and vulnerable in the local community. In December Chepstow Round Table donated gifts and time to personally deliver the gifts to lonely and vulnerable elderly in and around the Chepstow area.
Kevin and Sarah had heard about the very first Newport Marathon coming up in 2018 and signed up for this mammoth challenge and had no idea how they were going to finish it. They set an optimistic target of £1,000 with no real expectation that they would meet it. However, the jungle drums started banging about this great cause and the donations flooded in from very generous friends, colleagues, family, a local business (Bethany Care Home) and Chepstow Round Table.
The combined donations from all of the sponsors totalled a massive £1,500 before gift aid is applied.
Mark Walton from Bridges Centre said:?“We are enormously grateful for Kevin and Sarah’s massive effort in raising this fantastic sum for our befriending scheme. This will help us to continue our work of making a real difference to the lives of isolated and lonely people in our community”.
