THE time is indeed now right for St Mary and St Peter Church, Tidenham.

A further achievement in the restoration programme, which commenced a year ago, is now visible to all who visit the building, or indeed drive or cycle along the A48. The church tower's clock has now been repaired and refurbished, and proudly displays the correct time with strikes on the hour, though not overnight! This has been made possible by the generosity of donors and the hard work of the Friends of Tidenham in the on-going programme of required works, which include future car parking, and a water supply into the building to enable facilities which will allow the building to be used more widely by the community, as well as the current weekly church services.

A group of enthusiastic supporters and interested persons watched as steeplejacks and specialists accomplished the delicate and difficult task of raising the clock face and ensuring the clock is now giving the correct time. A self-winding mechanism is also now in place.

Future events in this programme include an art competition and exhibition from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th May in the Old School Village Hall, Rosemary Lane, Tidenham, to select a picture to become the 'face' of the church, which will be used as a print, and postcard. All who are interested are welcome to visit during 16th May, from 2pm to 7pm when refreshments will be available.

Tidenham Church will also have a summer festival on the weekend of the 4th July, when the church will be open to all, free of charge, with a music sponsorship event taking place throughout the day on the Saturday, along with a photographic exhibition and quiz, and refreshments of tea, soft drinks and cakes also available.
