THE recycling and refuse collection days will change around Christmas and the new year.

Collections on Friday 25th December will be moved to Sunday 27th December and collections on Friday 1st January will be moved to Saturday 2nd January.

Residents can place two additional black bags out with their refuse collection after Christmas Day from Sunday 27th December to Friday 8th January. There is no limit on recycling.

Wrapping paper should be placed in the red bags except for foil, shiny or glitter wrapping paper which cannot be recycled. Residents are asked to place bags out for collection by 7am on the morning of collection.

Real Christmas trees up to six foot tall will continue to be recycled from the kerbside. Place them out on the same day as your food and green waste collection. Alternatively they can be taken to any MCC household waste recycling centres. The centres are situated in Llanfoist, Mitchel Troy, Usk or Five Lanes.

Christmas opening times for the household waste recycling centres are as follows: 24th December: 8am to 4pm, 25th December: closed, 26th December: closed, 27th to 31st December: 8am to 6pm, 1st January: closed, 2nd January: 8am to 6pm.
