DIFFERENT generations are pictured below taking part in a creative writing and poetry competition in Magor.

Monmouthshire Housing Association (MHA) commissioned Arts Alive Wales to develop and deliver an intergenerational project with pupils from Undy Primary School taking part in creative writing poetry workshops along with some of the local residents nearby from The Lawns older persons scheme in Magor.

The pupils at Undy primary created poster poems and transferred their themes on to canvas bags as part of their workshop with Community Project Manager Emma Beynon and artist Tessa Waite.

A celebration event was held last Wednesday (13th July) at The Lawns in Magor for the pupils to showcase their work and celebrate the Rio Olympics by imagining, achieving and celebrating their efforts.

Pupils read their poems to the residents and staff and in return they all shared their personal experiences of making an effort in their everyday lives. The pupils then spent time speaking with residents and using their creative writing skills, they wrote a short poem about a resident. The residents thoroughly enjoyed their morning with the pupils and thought they were fantastic with what they had achieved.
