MADAM,

A fortnight ago you published my letter calling on our Member of Parliament, David Davies, to hold a series of public meetings in order to keep his constituents up to date with developments following the EU referendum. I am surprised and disappointed that he has not responded to this call, either through your newspaper or on his website.

The UK’s decision to leave the EU is the most momentous issue that the country has faced in decades, and there is understandably a great deal of uncertainty and anxiety about the likely impacts of Brexit. We might know the complexion of our new government, but many more (and more important) questions remain unanswered.

We can follow the news, debate and speculate to our hearts’ content, but the people closest to the action, and thus best placed to answer these questions, are our elected representatives at Westminster. Once again, therefore, I urge David Davies to organise a series of public meetings around the county, so that he can keep his constituents informed about the latest developments at this crucial time.
