MADAM,

Might I state that it is obvious Britain as a country needs to reinvent itself, but leaving the European Union is not the way to do it.

Over the past few decades a combination of right-wing politicians and powerful media barons have conspired to sour the attitude of the general public towards Europe. This has been carried out as a distraction tactic to deviate the voters from the real issues affecting people in this country today, which include, arguably, the rise in inequality, an increase in greed and decadence, deteriorating morality and compassion, and a drop in skills and the standing of practical education.

The UK media is inundated with retrogressive films, superficial reality and chat shows, as well as biased news coverage. None of these negative influences are caused by the EU. They are entirely self-produced in this country or imported from the other side of the Atlantic, and they will not go away without due diligence and determination on the part of everyone.

The best way to reinvent Britain as a country with a purpose would be to remain in the EU and wholeheartedly integrate into all its policies and aspirations. This would include removal of internal EU border controls, joining the European currency, treating other nations such as Germany and France as true friends and partners, aiding poorer regions in Eastern and Southern Europe, encouraging two-way freedom of movement and cultural exchange within the EU, and properly keeping to the laws protecting our environment and social justice. The list could go on. Leaving the EU is just plain madness, because membership is an important aspect in keeping this country economically stable, enabling scientific and social progress, maintaining peace throughout Europe, as well as being the best way for us to be able to exert our own influence. It’s about time people realised this, and galvanised themselves into doing something positive in order to prevent Brexit happening.
