THE September meeting was kindly hosted again by the Gatehouse pub and restaurant.

After hearing from Phil Ramsden of the Christmas fayre available in the restaurant, there was a presentation by Andrew Cotton on the Young Enterprise initiative and businesses were given the opportunity to volunteer to help develop business ideas created by our youth.

There was a lengthy and open discussion about the MCC consultation document on protecting our Primary Shopping Frontages and David Cummings, Chairman of Monmouth and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce explained the chamber’s considerable input to helping get the message across with the Welsh Government Active Travel plans to benefit walkers and cyclists.

He added, “I gave a detailed summary of progress on many issues important to local business and of new shops opening in the run up to Christmas”.

The next chamber event will be a joint one with the Hotel and Spa on the Wye at 6pm in the Shire Hall on 11th November. For more details of the chamber and its support for local businesses, or events planned, email [email protected] ? “
