MADAM

Sadly, we had an incident of sheep worrying by a dog sometime between 24th and 25th May on the fields on the Offa’s Dyke path between the Kymin and Redbrook Equestrian Centre. Unfortunately a ewe and lamb were killed outright, a further lamb later died and one ewe was bitten but survived.

These are rare breed sheep and we may have lost an old rare breeding line. It is impossible to describe the suffering that the animals must have gone through and the long term damage to the survival of the breed.

Although the police have been informed, there is little that can be done, as there were no witnesses.

So this is a plea to ALL dog walkers on this section, please, please, please read the notices and keep your dogs on a lead across these fields. Please do this even if the fields look empty. You can’t see the whole field and you may not see sheep until it is too late. Finally, please don’t be offended if we ask you to put your dog on a lead.
