MADAM,

The generous  people of Monmouth have always been extremely supportive of our coffee mornings in aid of Nowzad helping us raise hundreds of pounds.

We will be holding our last coffee morning of the year at The Priory this Saturday 31st October from 10am to 1pm. We will have a wonderful array of affordable gifts for Christmas along with the usual prize-winning tombola and many crafts which have been lovingly made and donated.

Nowzad was founded back in 2007 by Royal Marine Pen Farthing after his tour of duty in Afghanistan. Since its formation, Nowzad has managed to re-unite more than 800 cats and dogs with their compassionate and heroic soldiers who have served on the front line.

The Nowzad clinic in Kabul is called upon daily to treat the injured and stray cats and dogs and has more recently been helping horses, donkeys and even chickens.

The charity continues a trap, neuter, release programme and is busy promoting practical animal welfare and education to trainee Afghan vets which is provided by volunteer western vets. There is also an expanding rabies programme.

Life for an animal in war-torn Afghanistan is by no means easy but Nowzad is there to help and it is making a difference.

We look forward to welcoming our regular and new supporters to our coffee morning.
