Monmouthshire County Council has issued a series of temporary traffic regulation notices affecting key rural and semi‑rural routes across the county as essential maintenance and projects including fibre installation, tree works, and utility upgrades take place next week. The works will involve short‑term full road closures, each supported by diversion routes to maintain traffic flow.

In the Monmouth area, at Kymin Road, The Kymin, a full closure will operate on March 25 between 9:30am and 3:30pm for poling and tree‑cutting works. The affected stretch covers roughly 1.30km from its junction with the A4136 Staunton Road, with reasonable access maintained for fronting properties.

In Shirenewton, the council has confirmed that C61.1 from Shirenewton to Rhewl Farm will be closed on March 20 for BT works. The 0.80km closure is supported by a signed diversion via Crick Road, the A48 and Pwllmeyric.

Nearby, Llandenny Walks Road will see a closure on March 19 for further BT works, with a 0.60km stretch closed south of its junction with Llandenny Road. Diversions were set via Llandenny Road, Monmouth Road, Ty Freeman Road and return.

In Llantrisant, Gwern Ddu Road will be closed on March 24 to facilitate BT fibre installation. Around 0.55km from Usk Road will be closed, with a diversion via Usk Road, Llanlowell Lane, Alltybella Road and Llanynant Road.

Water infrastructure improvements will prompt the closure of R82 Gaerllwyd Farm to Gethley Road, Newchurch, between March 24-26 . The 200m closure west of Gethley Road supports Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water works, with a multi‑road diversion signed via B4293, R84, Old Monmouth Road, and Usk Road.

Further poling works wil also affect R108 Ash Cottage to Newbridge on Usk, Tredunnock, with an 80m closure applied today (Wednesday, March 18). Diversion routes are extensive, taking drivers through the Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel area, A472 corridors and central Usk crossings.

Finally, White House Road, Llandegveth will be fully closed on March 20 for poling works which will cover a 270m stretch of road from Candwr Road. Diversions will be available via Tre Herbert Road and Candwr Road.
